S.L. Benfica, or simply Benfica, is a major football club based in Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 1904, Benfica is one of the "Big Three" Portuguese clubs, alongside FC Porto and Sporting CP.
The club has won a record 38 Primeira Liga titles, 26 Taça de Portugal (Portuguese Cup) trophies, and 7 Taça da Liga (League Cup) titles. Benfica also boasts two UEFA Champions League titles, won in 1961 and 1962.
Benfica plays at the Estádio da Luz, also known as the "Stadium of Light," with a capacity of around 65,000. Their colors are red and white, and they are nicknamed "As Águias" (The Eagles), symbolized by the eagle in their crest.
The club is renowned for its strong youth academy and has produced many talented players, including Eusébio, who is considered one of the greatest footballers of all time. The team is known for its attacking style and has a passionate fan base.
